4th Series 1973

The bandit was retired in 1971, under pressure from the National Mexican-American Anti-Defamation Committee and replaced by W. C. Fritos.

Similarly, the Frito-Lay company was not happy about being parodied as a Wacky Package.  They sent a "cease and desist" letter to Topps on December 10th, 1973 just as the 4th Series was nearing its end.

The C&D was too late to have the sticker pulled from production, but it did prevent Freetoes from being part of the OPC 4th Series in 1974.
